Yoga, flowers & cake- a humbling day of love & laughter

If you’re looking for a way to relax, unwind, and tap into your creative side, then a ‘Taste of Om’ creative day workshop may be just what you need. This unique event, that Kelsey and her sister Kerin held on March 11th, was a beautiful blend of yoga, flowers, and cake. In response to the aftermath of Cyclone Gabrielle that raged its fury on the region, sister duo Kelsey & Kerin offered this special day free of charge to 12 participants who had been heavily impacted by the devastation. These amazing group of women were treated to a gentle, humbling day of love and laughter that left everyone feeling refreshed, deeply humbled and rejuvenated.

The day started off with a relaxing outdoor yoga session that set the tone for the rest of the day. Participants then had the opportunity to engage in a variety of creative mindful activities such as flower arranging, wreath making, mandalas, and painting. This allowed everyone to tap into their artistic side and express themselves in new and meaningful ways.

The event was made possible through the support of a number of generous individuals and organizations. Jan from @jansnapz provided the most delicious lunch and drove all the way from Waipawa to deliver it! Lianne at @globeartichokenz sent beautiful yoga props as very special spot prizes. The wonderful growers of ‘The Hawkes Bay Floral Collective’ donated an abundance of flowers. And New World Hav Nth, Life Pharmacy Hastings, Clearview Estate, Shampoo Plus Ltd Hastings, PAK’nSAVE Hastings, Crisp Homeware, Alma, Farmers Napier & Urban Retreat Hastings all provided goodies for the goodie bags and other spot prizes.

In addition to these contributions, our friend Paula kindly gave two body massage vouchers that were very well received. Humanity Books & Fine Art Supplies and Spotlight Hastings also provided generous discounts on art supplies and wreath-making materials. And finally, Keirunga Art studio, Havelock North allowed the day to be hosted in their beautiful Artspace which was truly appreciated by everyone.

The success of the event was such a team effort. Mindy, the coordinator extraordinaire, did an amazing job of bringing everything together. The event attracted a lovely bunch of people, and the messages of thanks that were received afterwards were very humbling.

A special thanks to my sister Kerin aka @the_floraliste, who not only helped make the event happen but encouraged the ladies in attendance to all create amazing works of art from their flowers which she photographed to send them.

Yoga, flowers, and cake – all that and much, much more. This workshop provided an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and allowed every participants to focus on relaxation, creativity, and mindfulness.

In a world where stress and busyness seem to be the norm, events like ‘Taste of Om’ yoga retreats and creative based workshops provide a much needed reminder to slow down, relax, and appreciate the little things in life. If you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed, consider attending a full or half day workshop like this to recharge and connect with yourself and others. If you missed our messages the sisters will be back later in the year for another special workshop so watch this space!
